First and foremost I am new to 2stroke and 4 strokes. I got a blaster in trade for a totaled Tahoe. Ran great for a while and the the oil injection stopped working and was obviously risen without lube. Tore it apart and piston was fried. New top end installed and now there is a chirping noise when I kick start it. Suspected air leak and took off the reed valves and no more chirping.

If ridden without oil to the point the piston fried, it is likely the crank is not far behind. Just sayin'...

The reed does occasionally make a strange faint squawk. You did the right test by removing it to see if it altered the noise. A bad crank will sometimes make a chirp/squeak noise too. My KTM125 crank just failed. an odd chirp when kick starting was my clue.
