So i recently purchased a 2000 yamaha blaster with no back brake assembly. Why is it so hard for me to find a cable rear caliper for a 2000 yamaha blaster? I purchased a caliper off ebay that said it was for my year, but ended up being the newer style hydro caliper setup. It does not fit. I went back to look for a new caliper assembly for a 2000 blaster and I cant find anything. Can someone point me in the right direction here? I am also looking for a video to change the front brake shoes on the same bike.

Thanks

You need a caliper from 88-02 blaster is what you are looking for. Not sure on a video for the front brake shoe replacement. Pretty simple though. Don't be afraid of it. Dive right in and get r done. You should consider making the hydraulic caliper work since you already bought it. Much better braking to. You will need a 03-06 carrier or make and weld a mount off your existing carrier, fab and weld on a master cylinder mount and extend brake pedal to reach master. A little cutting and welding, done.

I know which caliper i need. I cant seem to find one anywhere though for those years

Yes and you already purchased the wrong one. If you knew the difference you would have known from the pics it was not the correct one. Like I said, make some mounts and convert it to hydraulic. The stock 88-02 calipers barely work good when new.

It was a mistake. I already returned it. I was reading the listing not paying attention to the pic. I thought it was a stock photo, since they sold different calipers. I dont have a welder and Im trying to just replace the stock caliper. Still having a problem finding a replacement cable caliper for this bike.

Yeah keep it stock! No brakes when you really need brakes, you can alwayz run it into something, like a tree, parked car/ truck or your riding buddies 4-wheeler/ or dirt bike, ect.:)
