Kx 250 wont fire !help!!

hey my bros friend got a kx250 dirt bike! it will not fire up ! iv tried everyting ,cleand jets new plug all type of starting methods! it just like its not even trying to start! it has good compression! so can anyone help as hes really frustrated with it as he aint rode it yet! and i wanna go lol thanks bros I:I

if not, could be a timing issue, or a a plug wire, or stator, many different things are possible

thats why he needs to check for spark. that will eliminate plug wire and stator

sure thing man. All you have to do is take the plug out of the engine, put it in the cap, put the end against the case, or something metal, and turn it over

yup it has a spark first thing i checked lol and i cleaned the jets ..... theres still 4 reeds (i stuck my hand in and could feel dem flexable as normal!) and i tryed puttin a lil gas in the cylender(threw the plug hole! ) and still sothing ! damn this is annoying like wat else could it be!! lol

pull the flywheel cover and check the stator, have u guys tried roll stating it, maybe theres somthing messed up wit the kicker???

if you are getting spark, a healthy one, the stator should be fine. Could be timing or a carburator problem, did you clean the carb well?

i was thinking carb aswell! yep i cleaned her well but even if it was dirty (which i wasnt before i cleaned it) it should still fire up!

yeh, clean the plug up and try to start it for a while, then take the plug out and inspect. see if it is flooded or bone dry

havnt tryed it yet ,but what does it mean if is flodded?thanks man

if it is flooded, it is really wet with gas when you take it out. This means that you are getting too much fuel which results in the spark not being enough to lite it. This prolly wont work, but if it is flooded, then take the air box lid off and try. might allow enough air to get it started, doubt it though

yea taking the airbox lid off would help if it is flooded. if it was dry then clean ur carb. if u can't get it started after screwing with the carb make sure the stator key isn't sheared or that u don't have timing issues

They come stock without airbox lids, and did you actually check the compression with a tester? If so post the reading that you got.

no man but you can feel theres lots of compression! i checked the plug it was damp ,not soaked i put a lil bit of petrol in the airfilter (hole) and it gave a lil kick wat does that mean thanks guys!! and as for the flywheel key i dont to go taking the engine apart thanks though

Either your kickstart is effed up, or something siezed. Pull the jug, and check the piston and rings out, its easy.

is it coz it had tranny oil in it last time it ran but iv been tring to get it to start on no oil ! it was jus after a put it on its side(not completly )

Why would you try to start it without oil??
