is this the crank puller needed

thats the one i got, i dont know that you'll need a gear puller tho, you use that tool to pull the crank back into the cases. i think guys use an automotive harmonic balancer puller to split the cases. you'll probably need a flywheel puller if you don't have one yet

no i wish i was drunk, my glasses are broke and i'm just guessin, blindly pokin away at this keyboard

You do need a puller/seperator to take the crank completely out.I made mine out of a autozone puller. You may also need a bearing seperator if you are using the same crank, alot of the time one of the bearings stays on the crankshaft when you remove it.I can get you some details and pics if you need of the puller.I could have saved you some cash also and showed you how to make a crank installer,I have one I made and works great. However I like tools and just got that same installer tool in the mail today(finally spent the cash).lol

thanx dually, and yeah some pics of a puller would be cool, i'm only opening it up to remove any piston pieces and flush out good, the rod bearing seems good, if i suspect the mains i may just do a complete hot rods crank install, still up in the air

at least all new seals, is there a way to check the bearings, the rod has no up/down movement at all, and i see black things on the crank like its an a/m unit, i dont remember seeing them on my stock crank that came out, possible i just need to clean the pieces out of the bottom, they all seem pretty big, like the first big piece went down in and locked it up before it had time to chew it up into little pieces

will do the "flywheel wiggle" tomorrow, i'll put the flywheel back on and strap it to the bench,
but is it also possible to just pull the flywheel side of the case at first to get a look inside without having to pull the clutch and primary gear on the other side????
also is there anything special i need to watch out for with any thing in the tranny???
gonna look up the shift star mod too, wished i would have done mine while apart

I'll get you some pics in a moment bro.You can take the shift stars off of the 88-02 blastys and mod it that way also.It just has a torque screw and a key way in there holding it on.You can just pop the bottom apart and see what is in there. The transmission should stay intact. The shift forks will probably be what would fall first.Either way it's all fairly easy.Give me a minute I'll get you some pics of the modded shift star also.

Heres some pics of the puller i use.I went to the local ace and got some metric studs, coupler, and bolt and use those to match up to the case threads. The auto zone ones usually come with american threads. If you need the metric size I can figure that out also if need be.
