What makes the hotrods versions cost more ? What are the reviews on the vito's vs. hotrods +3 blaster cranks ?

vitos is a +3 and no case trenching is required, the hot rods is a +4 and will require case trenching. I'm not sure if the hot rods comes with a spacer plate like the vitos, if not you will also need to cut the head for it.

Stick with the Vit crank the +4mm crank needs many mods to make it work right, like case trenching, cutting the base to get the transfers correct.
Stick with the Vito crank, a lot less work to get right

I was just curious,i have heard horror stories from my local atv shop of the vito crank stuffers coming undone and breaking sh*t,is it fact,or is my local shop just trying to stick me for another $50 what causes it,and can it be prevented ? On this particular rebuild a stroker is out of the question,BUT when i get back from college, and build up my wifes blaster, she will get my engine and I will get a ported, stroker with ALL the goodies.

Your local shop is correct. The Vito crank has had problems with being weak and not holding up. If you are doing a build, then do it right the first time. Go with the 4mm.

the stuffers do seperate from the crank, plus they big end on the conrod is cut down...The hotrods crank is the best deal out there, you can buy the hotrods for 179$,which i think is cheaper then the vitos. You used to be able to buy that +3 from vitos for 130$

its really not a whole lot of work to fit a +4 crank it takes me maybe 15 20min to trench a set of cases, anytime you buy a stroker crank you should already be planning on having the cylinder ported to match the crank.

It´s very sad to hear that! .. I made a COMPLETE rebuild 6mds ago.. With the Vito crank as core..

So i can expect sometime it will break apart?

Is the 4mm's worth of extra stroke that much of a difference ? I have heard alot that a longer stroke is more effective than a bigger bore in these little blasters so i was just wondering at we talking HOLY CRAP more power or is more like it could pass as a really well tuned stocker with some mods ?

youve seen the videos of mikes 4mm stroker i did, they are posted on here somewhere his had a stock bore cylinder on it with porting and head mods. Not a whole lot in it and its probibly making easy 40hp to the wheels.

just keep an eye on them,i had a guy running a vito +3 for over a year then he changed cranks,i think they stuffer material is reacting with the fuel and seperating from the crank webs, maybe something to talk to vitos about.

i know when i pulled his out some of the stuffer was gone around the big end.another thing i think i noticed, the thrust washers wearing the crank webs out because they only have the conrod and the stuffer material to wear on and the side to side play was pritty bad

No problem's from my vito's crank either. I did have a brand new hot rod crank in my old 250r and it lasted about 6 month's. The rod snapped and went through the front of the cylinder. They (hot rods) paid for a new rod but I had to replace the cylinder, port job and piston. I'll never run one again.

Maybe it wasnt installed correctly ? I mean maybe something was draging because there was no machining to the case? I did some grinding on mine.. there is no change it will "hit" or drag on anything.. So i hope that helps!

OMFG! That sound awful! .. So we can perhaps conclude that errors can occur with either brand.. 6mds! thats not long time for so expensive parts!

Im sorry to hear about ur cyl..

no the wear was not from intsalling it...The stuffer is made of delrin, its alot softer then the steel the crank is made of,so its going to wear alot quicker then a normal steel crank would have. The only thing the thrust washers have to bare down on is the delrin stuffer, once its wore out the crank is no good..

Im not saying the vitos +3 is a bad crank,im saying i would opt for the hotrods crank before the vitos.Cranks just dont fail because they are "hotrods" or "joe blow" cranks, there is a reason you hotrods crank failed.I have never seen a problem with the hotrods cranks other then having to be trued up alittle out of the box.

Im sure if anyone looks at there vitos crank that has had one for awhile will surely notice what me and pittboss are talking about.Let us know what vitos tells you, maybe they have already addressed that problem maybe that why they upped the price 60$ on them, vito used to sell them for 130$ now they are 190$ and the hotrods hasnt changed in price
